This week in 'make-it club' we have been busy creating lots of poppies to remember the people that died in the war.
We were particularly pleased with our handmade poppies which we wore with pride!
Class 1 have been joined by Year 3 to participate in an inter-generation dance workshop every Thursday afternoon.
We had great fun dancing to lots of 'old' songs and getting to know our new class mates.
Autumn Term 2018-2019
We've been using our outdoor forest area for some exciting activities recently, such as felting and 'cooking' with mud. Inside the classroom we've been developing our skills in choosing our activities for learning and working on our most recent topic based on the book 'Oliver's Vegetables'.
Summer Term 2017-2018
We've been doing some 'Phonics in the Forest sessions recently, taking some of our favourite activities and games, as well as some new ones, out into the forest area.
Spring Term 2017-2018
January - February
We've been taking advantage of some bursts of sunshine by taking our maths outside recently. The children selected the resources that they wanted to take out to use and off we went. The Early Years group have been creative with their shapes work by covering our floor with lollipop sticks and we've been to a Kwik cricket festival with some other local schools. Our Stay and See session was very popular this term too...the children love having parents joining in with our lessons!
Autumn Term 2017-2018
October / November:
Our topic so far has been all about farming in the past. The children are finding this a fascinating topic and are so good at comparing historic farming to farming today. We went on a trip to see a historic working farm, where we had a go at making butter and rode on an old cart pulled by a horse. In our other areas of learning we have been trying out some new spelling activities and had great fun in the school forest.
Summer Term 2016-2017
We’ve started off our new topic on Dinosaurs with some enthusiasm and excitement. We’ve used non-fiction books to find out about dinosaurs, enjoyed some of our favourite stories and created a whole new range of spotty dinosaurs. On one sunny day, we merged Michael Rosen’s ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ with a dinosaur hunt around the school grounds!
Spring Term 2016-2017
This half term is all about Lighthouses. We started by reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’ stories, which led to creating our own lighthouses. We’ve made small lighthouses and used the circuits to try to light them up, we’ve learned about Grace Darling and wrote reports about the night that she rescued so many people from a wild storm and we’ve done so many other activities.
Autumn Term 2016-2017
This half term has been full of exciting things. We’ve been impressed by the technical ability of Key Stage 2, had moments of awe and wonder outside and been busily working on developing our own skills and understanding. We also received a parcel from the North Pole asking us to look after Elfie – who has been causing a bit of mischief around the classroom!
We’ve been busy doing out learning outside today. We’ve been writing lists, recognising numbers and counting with accuracy. Last week we made some special notebooks to use outdoors so we used them today. We love our outdoor sessions!
Summer Term 2015-2016
We've started our trip around the world for our Holidays topic. Today we visited Iceland with Ms Thompson as our official tour guide. She showed us lots of her pictures and some coins. The children loved learning about Iceland and are keen to discover where our journey will take us to next.
Writing our postcards to send home from Iceland.
